In the History Gallery there is a permanent exhibition on the work of Charles Tunnicliffe, one of the foremost wildlife artists of the twentieth century.

Charles Tunnicliffe had his studio at Malltraeth on the Cefni estuary on Anglesey, where he worked for 35 years. Although famous for his paintings that record Anglesey's abundant wildlife, Tunnicliffe also painted landscapes and studies of local peolpe. Oriel Ynys Môn has an unique collection of the artist's work.

There is an opportunity to see a selection of the Oriel's unique collection in the History Gallery.

‘Farmyard Studies’
14 May - 24 December

Charles Tunnicliffe was once described as “having the eye of the naturalist, the heart of the poet and the hand of the craftsman, a student of all natural life…” and the collection of work currently exhibited at Oriel Ynys Môn is evidence of this.

The exhibition will consist of work produced by the artist from the book ‘How to Draw Farm Animals’, first published in 1947. Fine examples of farm animals can be seen ranging from horses, sheep, pigs, cattle, dogs and more.
